When did our lives become so complicated that people have to answer their cell phones every time they ring, wherever they are. The truth of the matter may be that, because of how important calls are to some people, that they have never learned to turn them off (set them to vibrate). I remember an instance on a flight where, when the steward requested that people turn off their electronic devices on taking off, that same steward had to help a lady turn hers off. It was apparent that she has never had to turn it off before, leaving it on round-the-clock so as not to miss an important call. Cell phone ringing, particularly those with annoying ring tones, are especially noticeable in church. When that happened in church today our minister simply said: "If that's a call from God, take it. If not please turn it off." It's even worse when the phone is in the bottom of a lady's purse and she has to empty it out before she can shut of a rousing rendition of "Dixie". How much can you miss by leaving the cell phone off, for instance, in a movie. I would suggest you can miss a lot more in the movie when you have to go out in the lobby to answer it (if you are polite enough to do that) then you probably would it it were off. I'm all for technology; I've got more than my share. But I don't carry around a cell phone. If you want to get in touch with me leave a message. By not carrying a cell phone I am also not liable while driving to run over someone when I'm using it and supposed to actually be paying attention to what I'm doing.
