Yuma, Arizona, brags that it has sunshine 95 percent of the time. An old photo shows a frontier hotel here with the sign: "Rooms free if the sun doesn't shine." That's great for sun worshippers and the thousands of winter visitors who flock here to escape the northern winters. Blue skies are fine for most but as someone who lived in the Midwest for many years I welcome a cloudy day now and then particularly when the clouds are as unique and beautiful as those above. It seemed to give depth to the Yuma experience and beauty for all. That's why I had to shoot the above photo last week.
