SPEED LIMIT INDICATOR
One way to tell that winter visitors are back in the area is to clock the traffic on 32nd Street, a major thoroughfare between the Foothills and the main part of Yuma. The speed limit on the major portion of the street is 55 miles per hour. When you get behind someone driving 40 you can almost tell, without looking at the license plate, that they’ll be from Canada or one of the northern states. I don’t know why this is other than many of the drivers in the winter are seniors who are more cautious and generally a little afraid on a strange new road. It sure slows traffic down. It’s even worse when, on a four lane highway, winter visitors are plodding along in both lanes. I guess it’s a small price to pay, however, to bolster Yuma’s economy.
