In today's economy I know it is wise to use all the cost-saving measures you can: coupons, price matching, store rewards programs. What is not wise is to get in a checkout lane at a store behind someone who is using these cost-saving measures. Here's a scenario. A woman is using coupons but got the wrong product and the bag boy has to run and get the right one. Then she is price-matching (ala Walmart) and has to find the products she is matching from a half dozen grocery ads. Then the clerk asks if she is a member of the rewards program and she has to search her purse for the card. A real kicker is when the same person pulls out food stamps to pay which means the clerk has to separate products into eligible and non-eligible products. By this time you've probably had time to read all the "I had an alien baby" stories you can stomach in the gossip magazines at checkout. Best way to prevent all this is to carefully scrutinize the people in line to see if they have a fistful of coupons and newspaper ads or shop at a store that doesn't accept coupons nor match prices.
