A SENIOR'S VIEW OF TELEGRAPH PASS

When it takes a fit 55-year-old race walking stepdaughter almost two hours to climb to the top of Telegraph Pass it obviously is not something that an "old guy"should try. Nevertheless, particularly if you are photographer, it is easy to enjoy yourself while waiting for the stepdaughter to come down the mountain. Just slowly make your way up to the closest high spot for a wonderful view of the Yuma Valley.

While there you can marvel in the way the ocotillo are highlighted by the morning sun. You can watch a colorful beetle at work. It gives           you a chance to ponder why someone took the time to lay out a large heart with rocks.

From this perch you can gaze toward the top of Telegraph Pass and imagine that one day you might have been one of the small figures in the landscape. It works for me.
