THE GATHERING OF TACO MUNCHERS

It was another exciting day at the gathering of senior citizens for the weekly taco feed feast. It's actually called Taco Tuesday at Del Taco in Yuma. At 4:30 p.m., a half hour after the official start of the special offer on tacos, the place is packed as the old folks (including me) scramble to get three Classic Tacos, hard or soft, for $1.09.  For $1.00 more you can upgrade to the Deluxe with lots more stuff on them. Since we all know that senior citizens are all rich it's not hard to understand why most shell out for the Deluxe. Better get a place to sit as soon as you come in and get a supply of packets of "Mild" sauce quickly. They are gone long before the ones marked "Extreme, Blazing, Firehouse Hot." Those skilled Taco Tuesday procedure also understand to stay close to the counter so you can hear the server call your order number. Otherwise you hear a lot of conversation like "Order 58", pause, "Order 58" pause, "Order 58", pause, then "Hold your horses Sonny, I'm on my way. I'm not young, you know." I, personally, like Del Taco because they always give me a free milkshake on my birthday. The tacos aren't half bad either. Some Tuesday I'm going to come just before 4:00 p.m. to see, as I imagine, there is a line waiting for them to ring the "Taco Tuesday" bell.
