Remember the story about a new person in a neighborhood who asked someone how the neighbors were and was asked in turn how they were where he last lived. "They were terrible," he answered, "noisy and gossipy and unfriendly." His friend said "That's the way they'll be here too." Another person asked the same question and in response said they were great. "That's the way you'll find them here as well."
I think about this story when trying to figure out someone who just moved from my little community because she "just didn't fit in." In fact, it was discovered that she may only live in one place for no more than two years, moving some 30 times since she and her husband got married.
I actually wouldn't know this woman if I saw her because she never attended any of the activities that would have helped her fit in. I guess she just doesn't understand that to have a friend you have to be a friend.
