HELPING OUR CANADIAN FRIENDS

It's that time of year again when our neighbors from Canada, who have been in Yuma all winter, to go back across the border so they won't lose their health insurance. I hate to see them go but have benefitted from their leaving. They had to do something with the food they had left over that they couldn't take with them. The unopened foods, of course, can go to the food bank but we have taken on the welcome task of finishing up what they had open. Among the found items this year was some sweet potato pancake mix which enabled a new breakfast experience. I offered to keep any beer left over that might spoil in the summer heat but found out my neighbor had worked pretty hard at consuming the little that was left after a party last week. That's the way things go in a Yuma senior community; here one day and gone the next.
