After three winters as a “snow bird” in Yuma, Arizona, I am now as a permanent resident of the “hottest city” in the country. The winters in Yuma are wonderful with lots of sun and temperatures in the 70s and 80s. In the summer months, however, temperatures stay in triple digits for about three months. When we first came here and I expressed concern about the temperatures my wife said: “. . . but it’s a dry heat.” And there is some truth to that. Many days, even though the temperature might be 110 the humidity might be 5 percent. Not really that more uncomfortable than the 98 degrees and 80 percent humidity in Missouri. And the sunsets are great.
