I don't watch the idiotic reality shows on TV but I was fascinated by the "real life" show that I was privileged to observe in a wooded area in the Sierras featuring cats and deers. My wife and I are house sitting five cats who we regularly give outside time in a backyard with net screening to keep the cats from straying and the wild animals from eating the cats. One morning recently a family of deer wandered by at the same time the cats were getting their outside time. Neither the cats nor the deer appeared frightened of each other. They really were interested in each other (As the photos show) and I was fascinated watching them communicating through the screen. After the cats tired of their new friends, as cats often do, the deer, a male, two females and two fawns moved on up the hill. Deer frequently are seen in this secluded area of homes but it is the first time I've seen them stop for a chat.
