NO MORE FIRE TRUCKS!
In the summer months, when the winter visitors to Yuma have left with their large, noisy RVs, it's usually the big diesel fire engines that may shake our windows as they go by. This is a disturbing sign because it usually means that someone in our small retirement community has called 911. Both a fire engine and an ambulance (with sirens off inside the complex) are sent on 911 calls. If the ambulance leaves much after the fire engine we can be pretty sure that one our neighbors has been taken to the hospital. In a community of senior citizens, that rumble of a fire engine is an unwelcome sound. There are not many neighbors here year round but those who are here are sure to check the homes where the emergency vehicles show up. We look out for our own.
